Rodley Nature Reserve (1 Viewer)

Just spent really good morning at Rodley Nature Reserve. Nice setting with scrub, lagoons, meadows and woods and a good variety of bird species. In a 2 hour visit I saw herons, mergansers, common tern, great crested and little grebe, tufted duck, gadwall, coot and moorhen, sedge and reed warbler, whitethroat, blackcap, bullfinch, goldfinch, greenfinch, robin, wren, jay. Pleasant surroundings, good access for wheelchairs, well kept and run reserve - well worth a visit as I'm sure it holds many other species than just those I saw today. It's also towards Leeds so close to red kite country at Harewood, Pool, Arthington etc.
Regards,
Tom

I've only been once and my visit wasn't for all that long. I'm sure I didn't see that much of the reserve as it seems to be much bigger than I thought it was.

It's a lovely place to visit, last time I went in pouring rain and still enjoyed it! Easily spent a couple of hours there and saw a couple of Water Rail plus many other species. I saw my first close up sighting of a Kingfisher there just after it first opened.
