APS-C Sensor (1 Viewer)

Unlike the other APS-C sensors, I believe that this is the only one not made by Sony, the D300 sensor is also used in the D90 and D5000.

Or then again...

This is from an interview with Tetsuro Goto, Director of Laboratory Research and Development at Nikon Japan.

In it he says:
We have a longstanding relationship with Sony. The sensors for Nikon D3s, D3 and D700 are designed by Nikon, Nikon D3x and those of the small APS-C sensors are from Sony. We want to use our own sensors in SLRs most popular, as the performance of our sensors are better. However, it will take some time as it takes to achieve economies of scale.
And:
In our D300, we use a basic Sony sensor and ours have the same definition, but they are quite different, because we make many changes
So the D300 sensor might be reworked by Nikon, but it's a Sony sensor.
