5100 lens problem (1 Viewer)

I am having a wee problem with my 5100 as you can tell from the photo. I dropped the camera the other day and knocked the front element of the lens out. I am looking at dismantling the lens and rebuilding it. What I was wondering is dose the silver ring on the inner element unscrew? If it does is it a retaining ring and can I reattach the forward element and tighten it back up?

Any advice would be most welcome…please don’t say send it to Nikon tho!

Cheers..Daf.
