Guide in Corfu (1 Viewer)

Yes they don't seem to value their avifauna except for hunting!

We are having a holiday and not a birdwatching tour in early May but would welcome some local intelligence on what was about!

Even though they have the Gerald Durrell connection it seems to have little to do with Corfu these days. http://www.durrell.org/

These are some interesting links although one of them is a little old now.

This guy is a key player: http://homepage.eircom.net/~corfuwildlife/index.html

also dig around and there is some useful stuff here http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/corfu/index.html

Let me know how you get on.

I have been to Corfu twice, but it was so many years ago I can hardly remember what birds I saw!!! I do remember vividly watching Yellow-breasted buntings at Lake Korission (west of the island) - video of the lake here: http://www.onlinefootage.tv/stock-video-footage/5831/corfu-lake-korission-landscape-beach
I went to Corfu with my then husband and we hired a car very cheaply and travelled all over the island - it is a beautiful place and would love to go back. We stayed in Sidari as this was a good base to stay. The Lefkimi, Salt Pans which are south, are best visited in spring and autumn.

Good report here from someone I know:
http://www.birdtours.co.uk/tripreports/greece/corfu/index.htm The trip reporter is John Jennings and his website is here: http://www.coventrybirder.co.uk/ He may well be able to help you with guides on Corfu. I think he is a BF member too - but not sure of his name on here.
