Using filters on fieldscopes (1 Viewer)

Hi All...I have just purchased my first ever fieldscope. I am wondering if filters are ever used when Digiscoping, such as a C.P. filter or even a simple UV one to protect the front lens. And if so, where does one purchase such a large filter with the correct threads? What I have is a D800E mounted to a Nikon FSA-L2 which is mounted to a Nikon EDG 85A.

Thanking You,
