I was following the thread
http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=341306
and mentioned the starlings setting up home in my kitchen extractor and started thinking about all the weird and wonderful places that birds decide to colonise at this time of the year. There are often stories in the papers about bird nests in car engines and suchlike so it got me to wondering if others had experienced similar seemingly unlikely, unsuitable or just amusing locations?

I mentioned this in a previous thread (I think last week) Paul.....Picture of a Song Thrush nesting...If memory serves ,between the Amber and the Red, on a roadside traffic light, couple of years ago now, and can't remember where. :eek!:

I remember a mistle thrush doing something similar in the middle of Leicester a couple of years back too.

Must be the thrush equivalent of the red light district3:)

Best I've seen is House Martins nesting on the Dragør (Denmark) – Limhamn (Sweden) ferry.

I know I've seen that, and that was also House Martin, certainly not on your ferry (never been)....trouble is I can't remember where, suffice to say it was a long time ago. :eek!:
