Upton Warren (18 Viewers)

Just a general overlook with species named and directions and info on the reserve parking ect.

Always good to know what has been published as often incorrect information is circulated. The Trust's website refers to breeding Redshank whilst also stating "Avocet, little ringed plover and lapwing young are around throughout summer" - if only for the latter two species!

Any mention of £3.00 :-O:-O:-O

Yes, permit and cost mentioned in the 'Sites & Access' part of the article. Brian has written it and it covers birding in Worcester (the city) and with Upton as the second part of your day's birding. Species mentioned are all you'd expect.

Noted today that there are a number of Chaffinches on both sides of The Moors with Papillomavirus, including this badly affected individual. Is there anything we can do to try and slow the spread?

Also a Kestrel and Buzzard showing nicely, though didn't see the Red Kite.

1. Chaffinch with Papillomavirus
2. Buzzard

hi john.....we regularly clean the feeders. but gregarious species moving around the country such as chaffinch and the like will pass it on.

For the FUTURE from the FUTURE

A HAPPY CHRISTMAS to ALL THE WORK PARTY CREW'S, WARDENS, TOGS and BIRDERS both past and present.

Here's hoping for a great 2015 at the Reserve. Special mention to the Tuesday crew that have toiled through rain and shine. Their endeavours are now paying dividends and the Moors is getting closer to reaching its true potential.

Also for those that have asked me about my Grandson Freddie, I have put a photo of him aged 1 month (with a message from us) before his illness and the 2nd pic of him now.
Thank you all for your concern he is doing really well now and will hopefully be the 3rd generation of the family to participate on the Work parties..but not just yet8-P. He will hopefully be part of the Future Upton Warren.

Dates for your diary

Some early dates for your new 2015 diary:

Thursday 1st January
The usual rush to get the year off to a good start but also an opportunity to wave good-bye to Gary Prescott as he embarks on his next year long birding bike around Britain. Gary will be birding on the reserve first before setting off (let us know what time you will be departing Gaz)

Sunday 11th January, 1st February & 1st March
Flashes work parties - more details to follow

Saturday 25th April
Spring All-Day Birdwatch - brought forward this year through the absence over the May Day Bank Holiday of Messrs Belsey, Wakeman, Walker, Croft and Croft (sounds like a dodgy solicitors practice ;))
