Went out today along the American river just west of the Nimbus Fish Hatchery near Folsom CA and along with the usual white crowned sparrows, cedar waxwings, ruby crowned kinglets and Bewick's wren was a pair of phainopeplas hunting as well as feeding on some wild grapes. I got a couple of ok photos of the male but the female came right to the grapes where I was set up.

Nice bird/photo opportunity. That is a beautiful photo of the female.
