Had 3 mins of Purple Heron at Dungeness today..only 4 hours or so waiting for the event though. Great view when it did finally appear and well worth the time investmentB

Little Bittern today at Rickmansworth, really showy bird and a nice place to visit too.

Let's hope the Purple Heron hangs about. I missed them by 1 day when they bred at Dungeness a couple of years ago.

Difficult bird to see Pat. In the last three years I've given at least 10 hours of time up for no more than a couple of minutes watching them, but rewarding when they do show. However the Little Bittern is much happier to sit in full view so worth the trip if you find the time.
