Nightingale on concrete (1 Viewer)

Yesterday I saw a nightingale on a sidewalk of a street. At first I thought about those American small thrushes that look like nightingales, but it was nice enough to turn around 360 degrees so tail and back and breast and head were all clearly visible and it was L.megarhynchos - the same bird that sang from nearby bush during my last several visits to that site. It was unusual to see nightingale on ground in the open; I didn't know what types of body movements to expect, and they were generally thrush-like, no sudden jerky movements of tail nor humped posture nor scratching ground nor hopping to and fro, just easily-flowing movements like dancing waltz, nothing scared nor nervous. It then flew back into the bush.

Yes....It's always nice, seeing normally furtive species in the open or around a man made structure, always looks a tad incongruous. :t:
