I went to look for a bald eagle, did not find one. I had the siskin on the list, though.
 
Stopped by a lake on the way home from work this afternoon and picked up a new bird for the year.

Was in Lund in the south of Sweden for a few days for a conference. No chance to go birding, but I did pick up one year tick during one of the lunches.

The bird was perched in a tree near my birdfeeder, but I didn't see that he caught anything.

Checked my young plants in the polytunnel on my allotment this morning and had a Wren in amongst the Verbena bonariensis stalks that remain standing from the summer :t:

Day off tomorrow combined with good frosty forecast so I plan to get out birding for a few hours :king:

On my walk into work this morning. It was a nice surprise as most of these guys disappear from around here in the winter so I wasn't expecting it until March/April, especially as it's about -15 and snowy out!
 
After a slow start to 2016 - and a nice weekend in Amsterdam - I've made a jump on my year list to 50 from 16. This includes the lovely Kingfisher which in Amsterdam is not a common occurrence.

On my morning dog walk, first time I've seen on my block:

Just minutes ahead of the huge blizzard that's going to slam the entire northeastern part of the country, I stopped along the Monongahela River (the only open water in the area) and picked up a couple of new birds for the year.
