Prairie Falcon, Saint Joseph, Missouri (1 Viewer)

This morning I went to an area northeast of Saint Joseph where I have been known to see shrikes in the past. Once I even witnessed a Northern Shrike chasing a Loggerhead Shrike around this area.

Alas, this morning I saw neither shrike but was treated to a flying Prairie Falcon which flew off 100 yards and perched in the top of a leaf-less tree. I had my KOWA scope on it for a short time. Then it flew to the north and out of sight.

Even though I missed the shrike(s), I was very pleased to be able to view the falcon!
