Another wader id help - Pulicat, South India (1 Viewer)

Hi

Pls help id-ing this wader from Pulicat, Tamilnadu, South India. (From 21-Oct-17).

Saw the Tringa (?) very briefly and it took off before I could get a decent pic. Unfortunately I couldn't see either the leg colour or the plumage.

The head w/o any streaks, the eye stripe length and lack of any clear colour in bill confuse me.

Really sorry about the poor pic quality and the lack of more pointers on leg/plumage colour. Would really appreciate any help here.

Thanks
Ajay

Looks like a Wood Sandpiper to me.

Thanks. I had the same thought, but was wondering if the head is too "clean" and without streaks for a Wood sandpiper. But yes, this looks most like a wood sandpiper and the clean head might just be the bad focus. And I can't see pointers towards any other species.

Thanks a lot again.
Ajay
