Wild Turkey Watching (1 Viewer)

Guy from Morris County here. Anyone out there into turkey watching? Would like to get more into calling, tracking - pretty much what hunters do without the hunting part.

We see them most every day. 9 today but as many as 36. They have no hunting pressure here and are not very skittish.

Turkeys are thriving in the metropolitan New York area, reflecting the extensive no hunting zone provided by the suburbs.
They are also common in southern Connecticut, unwary and easily seen at the Audubon in Greenwich, especially during breeding season.
The gobbling males then are entirely unconcerned by the presence of birders.
The situation is surely different in areas where hunting is allowed and I can't speak for New Jersey, but anyone who drives along the NYS Thruway will note that turkeys are no longer rare in NY state.
