Trump is going to withdraw USA from Paris climate agreement (1 Viewer)

I agree Jos - incredible but he is acting out his pledges so there shouldn't be any surprises!
But what gets me is the one liners he chucks out on 'world' events without really thinking of the consequences of his actions/comments. Maybe he should be applauded for speaking his mind but then half the time he says he didn't! Even when the proof is there...

At least Emmanuel Macron has offered asylum to US researchers and their data...

Does it really matter that much that America has withdrawn from the accord? It seems like the most important players (China and India) may take up the slack. I'm not saying it will be for altruistic reasons - they'll be using it to raise their global profile... but the effect will be the same.

How mad is the man, and the majority of Americans, they have voted him in office?

Fred
Most people don't concentrate on science or environmental issues when voting, they have other priorities. Also, AFAIK he didn't mention budget cuts in the science sector (like the one detailed in the taxonomy forum) as part of his grand scheme (if he ever had one in the first place...).

Dear Sangahyando,

An interesting opinion you have. Did you read the budget? Did you read further than page 4 without becomming sick? Please tell us what you mean with "AFAIK he didn't mention budget cuts in the science sector (like the one detailed in the taxonomy forum) as part of his grand scheme (if he ever had one in the first place...)," especially the part detailed on the taxonomy page, because what is detailed there are official figures by the United States Geological Service, not something made up by Ben Creisler or me, we all know how he thought about the Paris agreements and American enviromental questions. And if people don't take that in account when voting they are mad, as mad as Trump.
But, unfortunately for you, I do not discuss topics with people I don not know the name of, hiding behind an alias, I do not respect that.

Sincerely,

Fred Ruhe

What a fatheaded remark! The great majority of people here post under "aliases" of varying degrees of opacity for a number of reasons, none in my experience discreditable.

Well,

Here are the program changes by the U.S. Geological Survey caused by Trump:

That is interesting reading. Somebody just gone through the budget with a thick red pen. Earthquake early warning - wtf is that get rid, water contamination whats that about scratch, negative impacts of mining there aren't any...

Would be hilarious if it wasn't true! Almost like a George Whitebread Harry Enfield sketch.

Unfortunately, like Sanganyando says few people pay attention to this section of the manifesto. This election was waged on creating American jobs and keeping foreigners out (note invasive species research not hit too much) - ironic that it took a foreign power to get him through the door....

You appear to have an extraneous "un" at the beginning of "unfortunately", but I'm sure others will notice the mistake and ignore those first two letters.

(It may interest you to know that many people have been online long before Facebook was even thought of, so using your real name wasn't the norm. There are also countries where posting anything under your real name could in the future mean either imprisonment or worse. It is also unwise to make it easy for criminals (or the Government) to build up a profile of you, as ID theft is easier the more info you can acquire... real name is a good start. What you post online never gets deleted, I can find posts I made to message boards over 30 years ago.

And finally... no I'd better not.)

But, unfortunately for you, I do not discuss topics with people I don not know the name of, hiding behind an alias, I do not respect that.
Well, for my part, I try to have reasonable discussions and I don't attack people who never offended me in the first place. I'm still quite mystified as to where I might have given offence.
I also didn't join the internet yesterday, as helpfully pointed out above. Time was when not using your real name was par of the course on message boards, and hence many people don't even think about such issues. But to each his own.

I think your remark illustrates that you don't understand how elections work, and that you don't understand the primary concerns of the common people, which are, amongst other things, keeping their jobs and living in a secure social environment. Both of which Trump promised, at which point it doesn't really matter that his methods are foolish. Add to that a Democratic candidate reeking of political nepotism and elitism and lacking Obama's charisma, and maybe you'll understand how things came to pass. This kind of thing happens in all other countries, by the way. But why bother analyzing, when it fits into one's own anti-American narrative so well.

Let's just hope that this is a 4-year blip in American history, and he doesn't get a second term on office. Hopefully America can then re-engage with their commitment to this agreement.
Trump does not have it in him to last more than 4 years. He may act like it, but it is all for show. We have hopes to block most of his legislation past 2018.

But as far as the Paris agreement, it was expected. One of the few things he is consistent on. In practical terms, the coal industry is on the decline. Not even Trump can keep it going.

Lol....sure it did.
Unfounded "Russia' talking points are getting tiresome.

Hillary was (is) an entitled idiot with nothing to run on; Russia had nothing to do with her loss. However one feels about Trump he is doing exactly what he said he would do, unlike most beltway political animals.

HaHa - you are going to a very tiring summer - have fun...

Swamp?
How abouts we find out what happened to Bernie advocate and DNC operative, Seth Rich, murdered in July '15.
He was a supposed theft victim, with nothing stolen from his person...watch, phone, wallet, etc.

He was the purported Wikileaks source which doomed HRC due to her corruption and media collusion, and he ended up outlined in chalk--literally.

I know, I know, all conspiracy theories; just like, 'the Muslims are coming, the Muslims are coming." Unfortunately we see how that is playing out in UK. And sadly it's likely just getting started.

Seriously? No worries here...

:king:

My my - you are really irritating. Do you post anything on this forum about birds?

From your posts its obvious that you have a Trump love affair - I don't know any person in conservation that does.

If just for my own reading experience could you please stop winding up folk on here and go and be nice somewhere else? You know it'll do you good.

It's abundantly obvious that Trump's policies on the environment - dismembering legislation, hamstringing agencies that might blow the whistle on pollution, attacking the providers of scientific evidence, etc., etc - are a case of he who pays the piper calls the tune. Remind me, how much were the 22 senators who wrote a letter to Trump urging him to dump the Paris agreement bribed - sorry, given - by oil, gas and coal companies in recent years? $10m wasn't it? I had precious little time for Clinton but that shouldn't blind us to the fact that the "swamp", far from being drained, is just growing deeper. With every day that passes, it's more a case of conspiracy fact than theory. Your President Tweet is making the USA a laughing stock. And, yes, when was the last time you actually posted about birds on a forum dedicated to them? Mine was about 15 minutes ago. It's not Trollforum ...

No love affair with Trump, mine simply isn't one of intense hate like most or all of those represented here.
Many of us yanks reject the socialism that many of you here espouse; the fact that very few conservatives post here at BF doesn't mean we aren't legion. Most just don't want to waste their time with pompous elitists.

Obviously I'm guilty of that...

I'll wait for any shred of proof to the above statement. Oh wait, they'll be none.
Meanwhile the real hate and violence of the Antifa left goes unnoticed or justified by the forever-butthurt Trump haters.

My pal irony.
