Our last day started with a low-flying Buzzard over the barrack square. Back at the lighthouse for the final time, we were treated to the sight of 3 Sparrowhawks harrying the the finch flock above the pine copse.
New birds for the trip came in the shape of 7 Common Snipe flying over with a possible Jack Snipe, but moving too fast for a definite i.d.
On our way back for the ferry we diverted off the E39 near Farsund to

look for woodpeckers in the pine forests above Farsund.
With heavy rain squalls falling, hopes were not high of finding any, but a Nuthatch and Red Squirrel lifted our spirits.
A relatively smooth crossing back to Newcastle gave us our last birds of the trip, Puffins just off the Northumbrian coast, Little Gulls and Turnstone as we entered the harbour.
All in all an exhilarating taster of birdwatching in Norway.
