upgrading from a canon a590 - handycam? (1 Viewer)

I use a compact canon a590 camera for taking stills and grabbing some videos via Kowa 661 + x30 TE-14WD eyepiece. Although the setup performance satisfies me (especialy in video mode - the results could be seen in the link provided below) I am tempted by HD... and of course would like to make better videos ;-)
I think of a new, small, handy video recorder that I could attach to the scope via a screw-on adapter (TSN-DA1). I shall not spend more than 700 $ for it. Do you think that any of current handycams will give me better results than my old compact?
I am not going to change the scope in the near future, nor to use any universal adapter (like f.i. TSN-DA4).
