Today, 10th Feb, sees the start of a 5 week exhibition of paintings by John Threlfall, in the Donald Watson Gallery, at the SOC's Scottish Birdwatching Resource Centre, Waterston House, Aberlady, East Lothian, Scotland, EH32 0PY.

The exhibition, running from Feb 10th to March 15th, is open from 10.00-16.00hrs daily, and entry is free.

John's exhibition, entitled Tidelight features a wide range of coastal birds in typically atmospheric settings from around the British coastline. These original images, which form part of John's forthcoming book Between the Tides due out later this year, are also individually available for sale.

I'd never heard of this artist before, but I do like his style! Thanks for posting.
Well here's a bizarre thing Jomo - I think I have actually exhibited with John in a small provincial gallery in Yorkshire. I must make a few more enquiries, but I'm sure the name rings a bell. If it is the same chap I think it is - I remember being absolutely gobsmacked at his approach (we're talking 15 years ago?), but whatever - I like what I can see now, anyway.

This guy is good! If the exhibition were closer (by a couple of hundred miles!) I would definately go along. His work stood out for me at the SWALA exhibition last year, it's terrific stuff and I would urge anybody close enough to go along.

Hi Folks - in the interest of furthering the development of the Art Forum - I would like to recommend this Gallery Site - It has an excellent collection of work by John Threlfall. He is in the modernist landscape tradition (I feel) and there are elements of Sir Stanley Cursiter and even Keith Shackelton in his works.
I shall also post the link on my Studio Site.
Happy viewing.
http://www.rockcliffegallery.co.uk and go to 'Artwork For Sale' - you'll find John there.
