December 4, 2015, Mountain area

Last Friday our class went to a new place to look for birds. We called that place "Mountain area". It's nice coastal area with a beautiful view. There, we were able to see a huge bird named "Eastern Buzzard" which stole the chicken, our teacher put in front of camera trap. After that, on the way back to school we stopped to observe Falcated Ducks floating in the sea. We really enjoyed watching their fancy appearances:t:

Environmental wildlife 12 Tangjiahe report

Some of our class students went to Tangjiahe with the teacher. Even though we spent two days in Beijing airport because of the big snow, after we arrived at Tangjiahe, the beautiful scenery let everyone forget the sad experience. We had so much fun in Tangjiahe.;)

We set the camera trap in a forest area of Jinshitan for the last four weeks with a dead chicken in front of it. Because the chicken has been completely frozen during that time, and the animal had a hard time to smelling it. we did get some pictures of a small rodent, a Northern Goshawk, and a Japanese Tit. We moved the camera trap further away from the road and will check again next week. We also noticed a rabbit snare close to our camera and then later found a dead rabbit (Tolai Hare 托氏兔)in another snare.

Yesterday, we saw two little owls in Jinshitan, Dalian, China. At first, we were very far from the ows but later we were able to get closer. Two of them were standing on the same stone for a long time so we got some good pictures. Also, on our way back, we saw a hoopoe right next to the window of our van. :king:

Quick field trip today to the Country Club to see Common Kingfisher. We found one right away which sat quite close to us and even went and caught a fish right before our eyes. It landed on a wall and kept slapping the small fish on the wall to kill it before eating it. We also saw a beautiful male Mandarin Duck there.
