Hi Everyone

My mum and i want to try digiscoping, we have:-

Me - a swarvoski AT80HD old style with a 30w eyepiece

Mum - a swarovski ATS65 with a 20-60 zoom

We were out a couple of weeks ago watching ospreys flying when one landed on a tree and stayed a while, so with 4 hands holding the scope, camera, zooming afore mentioned camera and pressing the button we managed to take this photo now i know this isn't the greatest photo to be seen but it is ours |:d| anyway, we started talking about digiscoping and i said i would investigate, but to be honest i have read lots of good advice on here but i'm still confused as to what attachments we need to fit a camera onto both of the scopes, please help us but please don't use abbreviations as i get very lost and confused :eek!: (not hard TRUST ME!!)

I know that it also depends what camera you use, i have a fuji finepix s5000 which isn't very good as the camera lense is too big, the photo was taken with a canon (can't remember which one as it was our friends one) but had a smaller lense, but that's not an issue as Mum now wants to branch out into the digital camera world|:d|

This is what happens when you buy a scope and lend it to your mum and within 2 weeks she has her own |:D|

Thanks in advance

Alison and my Mum

If you've not looked on the Swaro site yet, this is the page that has the basic info about their adaptors:

http://www.swarovskioptik.com/en/products/52

As you can see, the UCA (universal camera adaptor) is claimed to fit all Swaro 'scopes and work with all cameras. I have a feeling the price for that piece is rather high.

Best plan would be to call the Swaro team to discuss (01737 856812).

Hi Pete, i looked at those but still wasn't sure so i'll go with your plan and give them a phone!

Thanks

I think that you'll strugle to get a set up that moves freely between the two scopes - the tube type adapter that Swarovski make will fit the zoom, but not the old 30x. The Swight over type adapter only works with the newer scopes, it does not fit the older, grey bodied scopes. The only way to use both would be to use a universal adapter like this one - http://www.cleyspy.co.uk/ovl-universal-digiscoping-adapter-i643.html though even that may not work as you might need different sizes of adapter for each eyepeice... The universal adapters are good as the are relatively cheap to buy and will work with a wide range of cameras (any compact with a 3/4x zoom should work fine).

Another option would be to pick up something like this - http://www.cleyspy.co.uk/swarovski-nikon-digiscoping-kit-i2586.html which will work with the new zoom on your mum's scope. The if you wanted to use it on your sope you could move the adapter and the eyepiece over (the new and old eyepeice can be used on either scope). I used to use the P5100 on an ATS65HD with the zoom and found it worked really well. http://www.birdforum.net/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/180241/ppuser/3294
