Sigma 500mm f4.5 compatibility (1 Viewer)

Hi,
Using a Sigma 500mm f4.5 ex apo on a Canon 30D with a canon 1.4 tele with the pins taped, this combo hunts a great deal, sometimes not locking on at all. Would i see an improvement with Sigmas own tc with pins taped or Kenko pro 300 with pins taped, i would be interested in your views.

thanks Dave H

Hi Dave

I use this lens with a 400D (also used it with a 350D) and use a Kenko 1.4x 300 pro tc. I have seen no loss in image quality and the AF is only slightly slower than the 'naked' lens. The lens & tc combo only hunts in very poor light, in normal use it just bangs into focus.

I've got the same setup used with a 20D & 400D and no focussing problems at all.
