It's true, I quite like Pigeons
My son took this at the local reservoirs this morning. I feel that I should know what it is, but I can't be sure. The bird was a lighter brown than it looks in the picture, and the breast is almost white with brown bars.

The thing that makes it hard for me is I can't make out the head or beak. The feather patterns look very raptor like, but without the head I'm dithering over what it is. Size was a bit larger than a Mistle Thrush, I think.

I've cropped it as close as I can without losing too much detail.

So what is it, please?

Hi there,
Just want to point out that this Cuckoo is a juvenile: note, among other things, the fresh primaries with pale fringes, the whitish nape patch, and the brown plumage (although some females (hepatic morph) are also brown).
Regards,
Harry
