Tamron 18-270mm f3.5-6.3 VC (1 Viewer)

I've been searching the threads but cannot see any reports on the Tamron AF 18-270mm f3.5-6.3 Di ll VC LD.
Having seen the lens in WE, Norwich showroom I am seriously thinking of combining this with a 50D for a walking Safari in June (ie. focal range,lightweight, no lens changing etc). Landscape-animals-birds-anything !!
I would be interested in hearing from anyone that has bought this lens.

Currently have 350D, Canon EF 75-300 4.5-5.6 lll usm + Sigma 17-70mm 2.8-4.5 so hopefully the above combination would be a huge improvement.
