Announcing the June 2011 theme challenge - Mammals, Reptiles and Amphibians (1 Viewer)

The theme this month is wild animals. Whilst Bird Forum is primarily about wild birds we have active discussion and a gallery forum for animals. Here's another chance for members to post photos of the wild creatures that they come across whether on their travels or in their own back yard.

Insects will appear as a theme later in the year.

The rules must be adhered to in order to avoid disqualification. The Moderators decision is final.

Rules –

1. Entry to have been taken in the last twelve months.
2. Date taken to be included in the entry - must at least include month and year.
3. Entry to be uploaded between now and June 20th midnight GMT.
4. Your entry must contain a wild animal(s).
5. Location taken to be included and must include at least the county/state and country.
6. One entry per member.
7. Only minor image adjustment is permitted, such as cropping, sharpening, contrast, and levels. The photo must not be otherwise greatly manipulated ie. objects should not be added / removed in order to enhance the shot - no composite images.
8. Once uploaded a photo is classed as an entry and cannot be replaced by another shot. However, you have until the closing date / time of this competition to ensure that your photo meets criteria.
9. The entry must be your own work and not previously submitted in a competition on this site.
10. Entries to be uploaded directly by entrants to the Monthly Photo Competitions Gallery

A voting booth will be posted after June 21st.

Please note 30 entries will be selected for addition to the voting booth for members to vote upon - entries not included in the voting booth will be moved to their appropriate forum.

Comments on entries are permitted.

Any queries about this months competition, please post below.

I am new here and I don't understand how to enter in this contest. Any help you can give me is appreciated! Thanks!

Just go to the BF gallery
http://www.birdforum.net/gallery/
Upload the photo that you wish to enter, make sure you select the 'monthly photo competition entries' category when uploading (it's close to the bottom of the list of categories). Photos should be no more than 350kb in file size.

If the photo doesn't make it to the voting round, it is moved to it's appropriate gallery (presumably 'birds of north america' in your case). Then there is a voting round for the final 30 photos, after that, all but the winning photo are moved to their respective gallery categories.
are moved to their rightful category.

cheers,
Andy

Just realised my moth might not comply with the rules, as insects are later in the year! Should I delete, could I replace, or shall I just wait to be disqualified?

Hold fire for the moment to get Ian's input. I think the idea for this competition is to give a chance for non-bird photos...although if there's a seperate competition for insects, then maybe it's a no-go.

If you have another more suitable photo, upload it into it's regular category, and I'll swap it for you. Send me a pm to let me know what photo.

cheers,
Andy

How do I submit an image that has already been posted in the gallery?

If it was uploaded since 27th May 2011 then let me know which one it is and I'll move it into the competition forum for you.

If was uploaded prior to 27th May then just upload another copy directly into the competition forum.

Ideally we're looking for subjects from the animal kingdom for this months competition, since as you say insects come later in the year. In the circumstances feel free to remove/replace the entry already made.

Thanks Ian.
