In todays yorshire post they are singing the praises of grouse moor management on page 3 of country week, and have a sociable plover as a lapwing.Obviously the ID skills need improving. Can they tell a crow from a hen harrier!!!

:-O:-O:-O:-O:-O:-O:-O:-O

That is a big mistake:-O. Why sing the praise of grouse moors? Lapwings would probably breed there due to lack of predators apart from us.

P.S, they woulld not need to tell a crow from a hen harrier as there would be no Harriers to mistake it for!!!:-C

Surely thats a mistake on the papers part not that of anyone involved in the Grouse moor and there are many reasons to sing the praises of Grouse moors though admttitly Hen Harriers arent one of them.

This has come up before I believe. I guess some photography stock library somewhere has a bird photograph or two rather poorly labelled ;)

This was labelled as a RSPB image. You might think that they should know the difference! The same image appeared today in the Sunday Times labelled as a Lapwing in an article on bird migration discussing recent studies of the Plover. At least they mentioned that it bred in Kazakhstan!
