Nikon 200-400 f4 vs 300 f2.8 (1 Viewer)

have had the 200/400 for 18 months now and yes it is a heavy lump of glass
but the i q is superb with or without the 1.4 converter .quality and versatility
in one package.attached is an image taken handheld with the 1.4 only this last
week

Was that taken with your 70-200mm? If you can get that close to birds do you even need another lens!? ;)
 
Yea that was with the 70-200. I have no problem getting close to some ground birds and hawks and eagles, but there are other birds I would like to shoot that are not as cooperative.
