Good idea! Anyone who has any records from here please send them to me, Frank, at info@paradiseinportugal.com and I'll see they go to the right people. Cheers!

Public Presentation of plans

Finalgarve, the developers who want to build their complex bang next door to the Lagoa dos Salgados, have let it be known that they are going to have a public presentation of their proposed "Environmental Park" on the 4th February in Silves Biblioteca at 11.00
Please be there if you can so we can see what they have to offer and let them know how we feel about their plans.

Extrordinary shenanigans continue in this saga at the "Public Presentation" referred to previously. Basically there was a small slideshow which had obviously been cobbled together very quickly and unprofessionally and then THEY FLED! No questions were allowed! A fair amount of anger was shown as you can imagine.
There's a full report on my website, www.birding-in-portugal.com

More shenanigans at Salgados

We've now had a look at the developer's EIA and they've only declared half of their plans there! Full details on my birding blog, www.birding-in-portugal.com

Keep watching them, Frank. Looks like they'll use any trick in the book to get by.
(and yes, I only saw 2 also until you mentioned the 3rd)

I'm just trying to figure out where this is, I think it's the large area of scrub land between the river estuary to the West and the Salgados lagoon to the East, is that correct?

We visited last year and it was full of Iberian Hares, Bee Eaters, Corn Buntings, Hoopoe and Whimbrel, with Red-necked Nightjars displaying at dusk.

We were there in May and Armacao de pera was a ghost town of high rise apartments, I really can't fathom why they would want more. Is it really that full in the summer?

Anyway, best of luck with your campaign. If there is anything I can do to contribute, please let me know.
