Bird parts (feather groups)

If you haven't noticed, David Sibley is developing an interesting series of posts and quizzes on understanding the parts of birds on his website.

The start of an extensive series on head feathers (at least 8 parts I guess) is here

There is a bit on breast feathers, and he is starting to do more with wings. Some parts are geared for those interested in North American birds, but many of the parts on head feathers are just basic general knowledge.

Gretchen, thanks for sharing.

As a supplement, I would like to point to this page in our Opus area with a shorter introduction to feather groups: http://birdforum.net/opus/Topography
