Hello everyone,

With the advances in camera technology how long will it be, or is it viable to attach such micro equipment to birds to get more in depth information on migration etc and of course get some wonderful views? Also what are your thought on the chipping of birds has this been done before or investigated? One benefit for instance would be a bird could be tracked at any given time.Unlike a ringed bird, as i understand it,data can only be gathered at points a and b.

Any comments appreciated.

Thanks Mark

know nothing at all about this, so here is my 2 penny worth.
Chips, if anything like those implanted into dogs can only be read when a scanner is run over the dogs body, similar to the hand held scanners at security checkpoints at airports ( they, cant detect bullets either ) so would be of no user as you would have to catch a bird, at least with bands they are visible. These least you know is it has been banded, with a chip you wouldn't know that. Unless of course you could get them to fly thru a figh powered scanner.
Camera's. Can't see the point. Even radio's can cause problems if they get caught on projections or are not shed when they should be.
:h?:
As I said at the beginning of my post, I know nothing about this subject.
