Juvenile Seagull?

Does anyone have any idea what type of bird this could be?

It appears to have webbed feet and looks to me like it could be a young seagull or something, but I have no idea which one...

Located walking & swimming around the Columbia River, Washington state (Western USA)

Agree, young Sabine's. We get the odd juvenile in Reno in September or October every few years & they're always a welcome sight. I imagine they're somewhat more common in Washington state, but still must be a nice bird to see & photograph.

Thanks

Thanks, I tried doing image for seagulls in general and couldn't find anything remotely similar, but searching for Sabine's gull specifically does look very similar.

Welcome to BF. Juvenile Sabines Gull. There are really no such things as 'sea gulls' instead there are up to 56 different species of Gull.

Gull = technical term found mainly in bird books & on the lips of hobbyists
Seagull = term used by the vast majority of English speakers from the 16th century onwards.

I'd go for Great Black-backed Gull being re-named Sea Gull Seeing as that's what it's latin name means anyway and it's much less of a mouthful

Don't worry about the comments above. Their carers let them play on here. It stops them from wandering off. If you've any other queries don't hesitate to ask. You'll get an answer - eventually

The OP already had their answer I think Fugl and I were just being more original than "thirded" "fourthed" etc, and having a laugh into the bargain
