Semi-palmated Sandpiper? - So. Cal. (1 Viewer)

I saw this bird early this evening at the Malibu Lagoon near Los Angeles. Just to confirm, is this a semi-palmated sandpiper? I thought the bill was too small for western sandpiper. Any thoughts?
