Report images in the Gallery with the wrong scientific name (3 Viewers)

Thanks KC,
I now have another one: I split the Opus entry for Sunda Treepie, and both images for that species show the one that became Bornean Treepie, Dendrocitta cinerascens. The two images are
http://www.birdforum.net/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=137943
http://www.birdforum.net/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=141449

Due to inclusion of subspecies name, both images are found with a search from the Opus page, but hitting the link to opus under the image does not work.

Cheers
Niels

PS The split is supported by Latest versions of Clements, Howard& Moore, and Sibley and Monroe, so it must be an oversight that it was not yet in Opus.

Amended :t:

It seems that when creating a new species page in Opus you also have to create a page for the scientific name with a redirect to the common name titled page else the new page headed with the common name won't work.

I've added the redirect page so the links work now.

I do know that, but probably forgot because it became the last part of the evening. Sorry! :eat:

OK, next up is magpie:

This should be Eurasian Magpie, Pica pica:

That has to be enough for one post ;)

I've amended all the relevant Asian/European birds from Black-billed Magpie to Eurasian Magpie but left the others with Common Magpie as that's what it's known as over here in the ID guides.

The Black-billed have been amended to Pica hudsonia :t:

The problem arose in how to search for the European/Asian Magpies, in other words, how to construct the search term for Opus. Pica+pica does not work due to a quirk in how the search engine works. Common+Magpie finds about 10 species of magpies plus some magpie-larks and other stuff where common is mentioned in the comments. When I therefore saw that Clements and G&W both recommended Eurasian Magpie as common name for this species, I changed the name for Pica pica and tried Eurasian+Magpie as the search term. That does seem to be specific, and with the changes you made, there are now 17 images found, which of course is far less than what is in the gallery, but at least it is some, and they are almost all of them correct. (one image of a sparrowhawk).

Thanks
Niels

Good point. I've added Eurasian Mapie as an addition in the Keyword field which seems to work just as well for the search tool. 32 hits now.

I have just looked at http://www.birdforum.net/opus/Brown-Backed_Munia and http://www.birdforum.net/opus/Black-and-white_Mannikin, which some authorities treat as lumped. I did not feel there was enough consensus to lump these in Opus, but as such, these two images are Lonchura nigriceps and not Lonchura bicolor:

http://www.birdforum.net/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=151151

They are both labeled correctly in the field for Scientific name, but has bicolor included in the comment field, and they are the only images that come up with a search for Lonchura bicolor; we don't have a correct image for that species. Should the comment field be edited?

Niels

Hm! Whilst the search picks up the comments field they are correctly identified. We usually discount the comment field as it can contain details of other bird species.
