'free from' Nut and Sunflower Seed bird feed (1 Viewer)

Hi

Has anyone come across a bird feed that could be suitable for someone with a nut allergy to use (with caution).

I have a local school who want to feed the birds and other wildlife in the grounds, particularly as I've just got them membership to the local wildlife trust, yet they can't have nuts on site due to a students allergy. As I understand it this is mostly peanut and sunflower seeds, sadly the main constituent of most bird feeds.

The other alternative is suet pellets but these are expensive, unless anyone knows of a company offering them in bulk?

I suppose you could make them yourself to save some money if you have a sympathetic butcher nearby, mixing in bits of fruit, but I mmust say it seems like nut allergy and bird feeding don't tend to mix well.
