Hi

Can anyone advise on good conditions for migrating Raptors both into the UK (especially Devon) and on return in the late summer/autumn? Need to know what to look for, have some sites in mind but need to be aware of the conditions.

Many thanks in advance

Spring in Devon: South to South-east wind especially after several days of northerlies and wet/cloud, clear sunny conditions that extend to the Continent, since birds will require thermals to gain height before starting to cross water.

Autumn (better on east Coast for incoming): Easterlies bring everything! A couple of days up to a week after an East coast influx of Honey Buzzards there will be movement along the South coast of birds looking for the exit, and some of these will parade along long stretches of coastline.
