Save the Egyptian Vulture in Greece
I think this is a dark form Booted eagle but not too sure, in the second shot the lower bird is a buteo, which makes the booted look too big to my untrained eye.
Pattern looks right , but buzzard looked a lot smaller also tail looks to long, the illustration I am looking at seems to show a shorter tail. Thanks, Col.

I think it is. The mid-wing dark bars caused by the colouration of the wing-covert edges are a good field-mark.

Cheers

Thanks very much , I was lucky to spot this as I was busy snapping away at a pair of short toed eagles hunting nearby. Pic. attached.

Thanks again Col.

Thanks , have just posted under 'Your Birding Day' some more photos after a brilliant day yesterday of numerous raptors, this has been our best autumn so far here with spring being even better when thousands of red footed falcons migrate in a few hours after gathering in our area. We had 150 griffons and 6 egyptian vultures in one day in early September, you have to get the time right to visit, if you do hit it right the rewards are great. Col
