Well, a new attempt to break my own record which stands at 1'102 (2015). Shouldn't be too difficult as I will travel to Ecuador and to Uganda this year. The lists starts (as usual) in India...

Today we drove early in the morning south to Jeypore Forest. The forest is close to the state boarder with Arunachal Pradesh and continues far into it. We spent a very productive morning and a less productive afternoon in the forest with some really good species.

In the morning to Milpe Reserve, later some birding around the lodge and in Mindo itself. Then we drove back to Quito (with some new birds en route of course) and birded at the airport pond. The Wattled Guan in the early morning from the carpark was certainly the rarest bird today!

High altitudes today, up to Antisana and Mica Lake (for the Silvery Grebes). Spectacular views and great birds. My first Andean Condors and bird of the day: Spectacled Bear! We saw two from a distance but really good views of this scarce mammal with the scope.

Another go for the Seedsnipe at the Antennas, but we fail for the third time! Still some high altitude aditions. Later we drive down to Baeza. We look out for the Dipper (succesfully) and suddenly a Black-and-chestnut Eagle appears and takes a chicken. The farmer isn't happy at all, the birders are excited!
Late afternoon we arrive at San Isidro lodge, our base for the next days.

Today we first explore the grounds around Cabanas San Isidro, a very birdy place. Later we try the Guacamayos Trail, however the fog makes birding rather difficult.
