I'm planning for a trip to Peru and I quite like to have a fieldguide on an app since that is easier to carry around into the field, and since that is often a nice way to get vocalizations as well.
I've seen that the Helm/Princeton fieldguide is now available as an app. I do have a paper copy of that, but was thinking about the app on top.
However, on the UK Itunes store this app costs an eye-watering UKP33.99 (it's about the same, but in US dollars, on their Itunes store, so feels a bit like a rip-off - the pound hasn't sunk quite that low yet). I thought that the Ecuador app (based on the Birds of Northern South America) was steep at 24UKP, but the Peru tops that by some margin.
I can't even find a review of the app anywhere, and I'm a bit reluctant to buy at this price. Has anybody used this app and can comment a bit on what it's like? (It would certainly be nice if one could get a discount when one already has the book...)
Thanks,
Andrea
