Birdguides - Birds of Nortern Europe ITunes App (1 Viewer)

It is a lovely app. It's a shame that owners of the British Birds app weren't given any upgrade path - because the N. Europe app makes the BB one totally redundant.

One very nice thing about the n. Europe version is that it works as a proper iPad app. All those pics on the big screen look very nice.

There will be an upgrade via in-app purchase in the future. We're working on it as fast as we can.

B*gger. Diidn't realise there would be an upgrade! Just got the N European Bird one. Cursory inspection shows Red-flanked Bluetail appears to be missing & there are a few anomalies - Pallas's Leaf Warbler & Yellow-browed Warbler in but not Lanceolated or Pallas's Grasshopper which could both be argued to be scarce migrants.

Any news about when this application will include all European birds? South Africa has a brilliant application with over a thousand species.

Not sure about this Frank. On my I-pad there is a distinct lack of definition. In fact, I came to the conclusion that it would look a lot better on an I phone.

Personally I prefer the Peterson and Sibley set up though, of course, they don't cover N Europe:-C Certainly for quick comparison of similar species.

Ah, you'll be using one of them new-fangled Retina-type displays with all them billions of smeggypickles. Back when I wrote what I writ we considered ourselves lucky to have loads of killerpickles - we dreamed of smeggypickles.

Yes, you're correct, the images do look a bit meh on the new hi-res screens. A complete re-boot would be wonderful.
