Just returned from the Anza Borrego Desert in southern California, where I got a couple of shots of this lizard. It was roughly 10 inches long, tip of tail to nose. I'm really stumped - any ideas? Thanks.
I also e-mailed these pics to a biologist who lives out there and he gave me the same opinion. I had pretty much narrowed it down to Desert Iguana, Desert Collared Lizard (without a collar?), or Leopard Lizard. This individual appears to be on the young side - not full grown. I think the ID would have been more obvious if it was.
