Large Owl Hartlepool Headland (1 Viewer)

I saw this owl fly out of the fog then cicle about the park/ streets before disapearing back into the fog again could anyone I.D it please it was about 2.30pm on Hartlepool Headland ...Could it have came in with the Goldcrests and Redwings ? All the best John

It's a Short-eared Owl. And yes there's a good chance it came in with the other migrants.

I live on the Headland. Its been about for a few days before the fog. This was taken on the Spion Kop 19/10/12

Hi Eddie, Thats a corking picture . What a place to live ,I was back yesterday but other than the Goldfinch I didnt see alot else .Off to south Gare in about an hr so keeping my fingers crossed.
