A review of the CL Companion 8x30 (1 Viewer)

I've had a chance to try these out now and ordered a demo pair from Camera Land. Like any bin, not perfect but I was impressed enough that I won't miss my 8x32 SE's when they sell.

I had the SE and CL at the same time and chose the CL over the SE (sold it).
My decision was based on the nice handling of the CL. The SE is definitely sharper and has overall nicer optics, but I like the CL a lot for it's size, weight and handling.
Some prefer the SE handling however. It is a very nice binocular. I still really like the small porro bins. I still have the little Jenoptem and a compact Olympus (reverse porro).

As I've said in my ad to sell the SE's and have said here a number of times, I just don't find the SE's comfortable to use although I don't have a serious blackout issue with them like some. I have trouble holding them.

For me, if the optics are at least good (and the CL's are better than "good") what really matters to me is the ergonomics - do they fit my face with eyecups that adjust to *my* needs, carry well, are comfortable to use (focus and diopter).
