Caterpillar ID, Oare Marshes, Kent, August 2017 (1 Viewer)

Can anyone ID the attached caterpillar seen at Oare Marshes in Kent earlier this summer please? I've tried Google and the nearest I've come to is some sort of processionary moth but I really have little confidence in that ID so I am here for some expert eyes.

It was climbing up a wooden post/painted tree stump by the side of the road. From memory the only real vegetation in the immediate vicinity was a grass verge
