Hi Alan.

I'm pretty sure they are of one of the Nymphalidae butterflies but, very early instar (very young caterpillars)
What were they feeding on Alan? It should narrow them down.

The caterpillars were feeding on a nettle plants

If it helps picture was taken near the coast in Suffolk
