Hi

This is probably a very long shot but does anyone out there know of any good recent information on this endangered bird. I've done quite a bit of searching online and almost everyone is unable to find it on Cerro Santiago or can only find "unidentifiable" females.

The only good photos online look unidentifiable to me (from the much commoner Scintillant) although there is one poor photo of what seems to be a male, with a ruby-red throat.

cheers, alan

The site guide for Panama says that it varies in occurrence at Cerro Santiago depending on time of year -- march bad, april good.

They also mention Cerro Hornito south of the Fortuna reservoir as a place it should occur.

Obviously, the book is not that new.
