Observed last week my first sign of spring - the starling's beaks are starting to turn black.

I am new to my area (Iron Mt., MI) and was happy to see a common redpoll on my thistle bag last week. Then just yesterday I noticed what I believe to be an American tree sparrow at the same thistle bag.
