I saw a bittern today! (1 Viewer)

Went to Brandon Marsh and saw a bittern fly from the west to east over the far pool then back again. Then we watched it posing in the reeds and then fly off northwards. It was the most exciting 10 minutes or so, we all cheered!:-O
 
That is a good day. I've seen one but it wasn't good views. Hopefully this winter.
 
Oh you were lucky SW - they're wonderful birds, aren't they. What a great time you seem to have had.

I should start a thread "I didn't see a Bittern today" LOL. I went to our local reserve and the car park was full (normally there's only about 3 or 4 cars) - the word had got round that a Bittern had been sighted a couple of days ago but it wasn't showing today unfortunately.
 
Thank you, it really was wonderful. I've never seen one before. We also saw 2 goldeneye (2 male one female) and a female smew so lots of 'ticks.'
