Is to avoid a circular image with a DSLR? (1 Viewer)

Hallo,

If I make a picture with my DSLR by my spotting scope, I always get a circular image.
Outside the circle is all black.

I can, of course, with an editing to make a crop.

Or does anyone know a way to prevent a circular recording already while shooting?
Zoom can obviously not, because there is no lens attached to the camera.

In contrast to the use of a compact- or system-camera.

With regards, Martin.

Is there an eyepiece on the scope? I presume that you have the dslr (minus lens) attached to the eyepiece and you are doing eyepiece projection onto the dslr sensor? Increasing the distance of the camera to the eyepiece should get rid of the black circle but it might also increase magnification too much. This could make photography difficult unless you had a low power eyepiece.
