Grabbed a couple of hours light hearted birding around the great lake at Castle Howard, N.Yorks. Most of the usual flotilla of birds on the lake or grazing near by with Coots, Mute Swans, Mallard, Herring and Common Gulls (once they had gotten bored of following combine harvesters!), Canada and Greylag Geese and a beautiful juvenile Great Crested Grebe with obvious black head stripes. Also the resident Cormorants wee perched amongst the trees near the house. Plenty of passerine intrest as well as i mooched round in the sun with large mixed tit flocks which included Great, Blue and Long-tailed tits a maybe Marsh tit (only just got the bins on it before it disappeared), Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler and Chaffinch. Also saw Reed Warbler, a Woodpecker flying out of the sun so not a clue what type and a lovely male Bullfinch just as i was leaving. Probably much more knocking about but man it was warm and i was loving that far too much. :flyaway:

Sounds like a good day. I have a pair of bullfinches at the moment in the garden, along with a juvenile.

Regards
