my wife and I had a great day out ay a site which I cannot reveal on here but wish to pass on our sightings.

The day started with our garden birds, 3 Bullfinch, 2 Nuthatch, 6 Goldfinch, 3 Chaffinch plus the usual Blue & Great Tit, Robin, Dunnock, Blackbird.

hen set off for an afternoon's birding. The afternoon was sunny, dry and no wind in fact it was like a typical spring day. Within a minute of getting there we had our first of 4 Short-eared Owls. As the afternoon wore on we sighted up to 8 Kestrel, 4 Buzzards, pair of Meadow pipit, flock of Godwits, Lapwing, numerous B-H Gulls and Mallard It was about 4.30 when the pair of Barn Owls appeared, the Owls treated us to a wonderful display of quartering the marsh. WE stayed and waited for the Star. It turned up at 5.20pm, a female hen harrier (Ringtail) coming into roost. We were treated to a 10 minute display of flying around before it dived into the reeds. It rerally was getting quite dark but our birding was not over. When we got back to the car there was a Little Owl in the tree about 30 yards away, so ending the birding day.
