We are in a forested area in the Cumberland Mountain foothills of middle Tennessee. Every fall there is a migratory bird that makes a sound in the woods that is similar to the sound of a chipmunk, or a loud cluck of a chicken. It is repetitive and there are several of them in the trees that seem to communicate to each other. I am pretty sure that it is not a turkey, or grouse, or owl. Every time we track the sound and get close it decides to stop and keeps us wondering.
